Water
The City receives its water from North Texas Municipal Water District. New residents can set up their account here.
Electric
Two electric providers service Fate. The Farmers Electric Cooperative, a member-owned co-op, and the Oncor Power grid. Residents living in the deregulated Oncor power grid have a choice when it comes to an electric provider.
Fate residents living in the Oncor power grid may participate in the Texas Power Switch.
The Texas Power Switch is a group energy switching program that gives residents the opportunity to join together and get a lower rate on electricity by asking energy providers to bid on the group’s business. These auctions are run four times a year, but registration is on-going.
There is no cost to the residents or the City for this service, nor does the City receive any compensation. This is a service exclusively designed to help residents save money.

Natural Gas
Atmos Energy service Fate and is the nation’s largest fully-regulated, natural gas-only distributor of safe, clean, efficient, and affordable energy.
Trash and Recycling billing is handled by the city of Fate, though service is provided under contract by Waste Connections. Service begins automatically when new residents request water and sewer service.
When you move in, if there is not a trash or recycle cart located at the residence, if you require an additional cart, or if your cart has been damaged, contact the Utility Department.
There are many providers available in the area. Some providers are listed below for your convenience. Fate is experiencing fast growth and additional providers could be available and found with a Google search. This list is not exhaustive and does not endorse one provider over another.

The city of Fate is serviced by two excellent school districts, Rockwall ISD (to the west) and Royse City ISD (to the east). Though the school districts are operated and funded independently from the City, each district is an amazing partner that works together with the City for the betterment of the community.
Many public and private universities are within a short commute to Fate. This list is not exhaustive and does not endorse one school over another.

Elections and Voter's registration is taken care of by Rockwall County Elections Department.
Some neighborhoods in Fate have a Homeowner Association (HOA). HOA management companies often maintain these associations for their residents. Each HOA has different sets of rules and governances.
Registering your pet is easy and can be done online.
Things to know before getting started:
- A separate application must be completed for each pet.
- A recent color photo of your pet and an UNEXPIRED rabies vaccination certificate must be uploaded.
- The total per pet registration fee is $5.00
- Once you complete the online application your pet's registration certificate and unique ID tag will be mailed to the address you provided within 10-15 business days

A security alarm application is needed each year. The applications can be found here.
The Texas Department of Public Safety issues driver licenses that are valid for up to eight years to Texas residents. Driver License offices are located throughout the state and offer services by appointment only.
The Rockwall County Tax Office provides Vehicle registrations. As part of your vehicle registration, you are issued a set of general issue license plates. More information about license plates can be found at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV)
STAR Transit is a public bus transportation service, offering bus transportation in Kaufman County, Rockwall County, Mesquite, Balch Springs, Seagoville, Hutchins and DeSoto. Anyone residing in the service area may ride STAR Transit. Destinations could include job locations, educational facilities, non-emergency medical appointments, senior centers, and career-training facilities.
For commuters into the DFW metroplex, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is available. The closest station is the Downtown Rowlett Station, about 17 miles to the west.
Before beginning home repairs or additions to your property make certain you have the proper permits. Permits safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Fate by ensuring that minimum requirements are met.
