The Finance Department is committed to providing timely, accurate, clear, and complete information to support other City departments, citizens, and the community. Additionally, the department protects CIty assets, both real and intangible, as well as ensuring the City's compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
The Finance Department is responsible for the management and direction of:
- Internal Controls
- Utility Billing
- Municipal Court
- Debt Management
For the last seven years, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the city of Fate with a Distinguished Budget Award for preparing high-quality budget documents that meet program criteria and striving to improve budget transparency in the community. Additionally, for the past six years, the City has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The city of Fate has also been awarded the Certificate of Distinction from the Government Treasurers’ Organization of Texas (GTOT) for maintaining a comprehensive written investment policy that fully complies with the Texas Public Funds Investment Act (PFIA). This is the second consecutive award the City has received from GTOT.
